Silhouettes part 2: Silhouette drawings

This task was rather enjoyable, however I found it ahrd to come up wth shapes. So I wasn't gaining anything from this.

Until I lifted the paper and realised that the pen had gone through and created mixers of shapes. The blocked out version looks really cool.

Silhouettes Part one: Ink Drop Silhouettes

Alan gave me advice to drop ink into water to create different shapes that I wouldn't normally think of. The effect worked brilliantly and this is what I have so far.

Day one

Day two

Animation

I have printed of the ones I like, and from this I will cut them up and make a collage of different shapes to create a form.

Loki Character Designs so far...

It has been a nice couple of days of drawing, I have been trying to improe my drawing skills and just seeing what I can come up with. So I haven't been thinking about what I have been drawing too much to allow the freedom of creative.

I have come up with some stuff that I really like, I like the strength and mutation in most of the designs. What I don't like is the legs on all of the drawings, I just think it doesn't suit the dark and powerful nature of this character.

This coloured version is my favourite so far, I like how the human and evil mix works for the character. However there is plenty wrong with it. The tail for example makes the character look too Egyptian. I really like the symbol at the back, that work well. The best thing about this piece is that he looks dark and magical.

My biggest problem at the moment is that I don't see Loki's character in these design, I just see monsters. I will go back and reteach myself who Loki is.

A collection of Final Fantasy Bosses

I have been having trouble thinking of how to start designing, I have the character bio so I have some idea but I want the basic idea to be really good! I would like to have Loki look relatively human but with a mutation of evil applied to it. So I am already narrowing things down to work on, however when I put pencil to paper, all ideas are gone!.

So I wanted to go back to what games I play and look at the bosses that I have already played against, and hopefully this could give me some ideas.

What I like about this characters is their dominance as a character/monster. The main thing the final boss character must have, is the "WOW" factor! I want my character to have this. What I mean is, is I have been playing a game for 70+ hours and get to the final boss I want to feel that the time was well spent. I want the character to be worth 70+ hours of playing time, or designing time!

These last three concepts are my favourite, I like how symbols have been used as solid artifacts on the characters. I have already found some Norwegian and Viking symbols that I would like to integrate into my character.

Loki in Ultimate form - Character Bio Version one

The bio for this character will help me visualise and design his looks and movement. When creating the bio I must think about strengths and weakness, his limitation, his power as well as his looks. I need to think about this because for example if he is a massive and muscular creature then he wouldn't be able to move as freely as a slender character.

So this is character bio version one

Loki appears to be interpreted to have two horns on his helmet, however I am not sure why this is. I have read up on many sources about Loki and haven't so far found anything about the horny helmet. However it is a nice concept idea for my final boss battle form.

The colour scheme is earthy tones with golden accessories to show is wealth as a god.

Game Synopsis

Loki wants to steal Freya's necklace so that he will live forever, however Freya knew of his plans. She sent it away to the most unlikely of places and enchanted it will if a spell that meant that Loki could not have it unless it came to his palace in the kingdom of Asgard. The necklace found its way to two brother adventurers Lif and Lifthrasir. After years of searching for the necklace, Loki found where it was but he could not take it. So he stole there sister and left a note of where they could find her, and said that they need to bring the necklace as a trade.

However the fault in Loki's plan is that Lif and Lifthrasir need to prove their worth to be able to enter the Gates of Asgard. Lif and Lifthrasir must travel through the four kingdom and face all the creatures in their way to get their sister back. Loki has placed giants, dwarfs and even the undead on there path to Asgard, if his workers kill them then he obtains the necklace faster.

Meanwhile the gods of Aesir help the travellers on the journey with special weapons, items and magic abilities. The gods know that if Loki obtains the necklace, he will unleash Ragnarok and destroy everything. Lif and Lifthrasir are not only travelling to save their sister, but also to kill Loki, however what they don't know is that Loki is helping them to reach Asgard in disguise.
