David Ruffle

Some beautiful images here created by David Ruffle. My favourite of the three is the attic scene below, It shows so much mystery and story together. It took me a while to notice the man standing in the corner, very eerie!

I quite like the idea of the graveyards in these images, but the one problem I see with them is that a graveyard is seen as a scary/eerie place, which makes the image to obvious.

When it comes to my piece, I would prefer to turn an scene that is not seen as uncanny and turn it into what it wasn't.

I am Legend

DIRECTED BY FRANCIS LAWRENCE

STARRING WILL SMITH

What's amazing about this film is the feel of mystery the scenery portrays, it's interesting to see what can happen to a previously busy city when the popluation disappears. The broken cars and overgrowth of grass and weeds enhance a atmosphere of abandonment. This film always has me thinking throughout, woundering what's behind every door, every corner and what could happen in the next minute.

One of my favourite scene in this film is where Will Smith and his dog 'Sam' are inthe bathtub and the sounds of something that is going on outside is filling the audience's ears. This scene personally make me think the most, the sound really punch in the imagination of what is happening outside. Irrational Fear.

Unit 2 Submission @ Phil

The first couple of ideas pulled out of my head

Whilst watching 'THE HAUNTING' I had loads of ideas come to me, so i've sketched a few and also doen a few in photoshop to put some colour to those images. Theres still loads more i need to put done on paper and screen, and when I look at some awesome artwork, I hope to have the ball rolling even more!!!

A DEATH IN THE BEDROOM?

A CLOSE UP OF A VENTRILOQUIST DUMMY

WHAT'S BEHIND THE DOOR?

What I also noticed about 'THE HAUNTING', is that the imagination is the most feared tool. Whilst watching the scene where the noises are banging on the door and wall of Eleanor and Theo's room, I kept on asking myself the same question, 'What could it be?'. Personally I don't believe in ghosts or supernatural, but there's always a time where everyone thinks they've seen something that shouldn't be there, something in the corner of their eye maybe, or making a face out of completely random objects, like a house or a tree. For example the optical illusion below.

'THE FOREST HAS EYES' by Bev Dolittle, http://www.galleryone.com/images/doolittle/doolittle%20-%20forest%20has%20eyes,%20the.jpg

Define UNCANNY

Definition I liked the sound of: mysterious; arousing superstitious fear or dread; uncomfortably strange: Uncanny sounds filled the house.

and also: 1. characterized by apparently supernatural wonder, horror, etc
2. beyond what is normal or expected: an uncanny accuracy.

These definitions sound extremely interesting to me, and have plowed some great ideas in my head already

URGENT @ PHIL

A quick question about my submission tomorrow, seeing as the snow is a really big problem, how do I submit my work, could I submit online?
